Ford Falcon FG, XR6, XR6 Turbo and Fairlane wheel fitment: real customer setups

Quick answer: The Ford Falcon FG, FG XR6, FG XR6 Turbo and the NL Fairlane all run a 5x114.3 stud pattern, and our customers' cars run 18-inch SpeedWorks wheels from 18x8.5 +35 up to 18x9.5 +22. A customer's FG Falcon runs SW06 18x8.5 +35, an FG XR6 runs SW12 18x9.5 +22 in Gloss White, and both an FG XR6 Turbo and an NL Fairlane run SW17 18x9.5 +22.

Below is what real Falcon and Fairlane owners have fitted, what the sizes and offsets mean for your car, and what to check before you order.

Every row in this table is a real customer car from our Ford gallery.

Car Wheel Size and offset Stud pattern Finish
Ford Falcon FG SW06 18x8.5 +35 5x114.3 Gloss Black & Machine Lip
Ford Falcon XR6 FG SW12 18x9.5 +22 5x114.3 Gloss White & Machine Lip
Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo FG SW17 18x9.5 +22 5x114.3 Gloss Black & Machine Lip
Ford Fairlane NL SW17 18x9.5 +22 5x114.3 Gloss Black & Machine Lip

The two setups that work on these cars

18x8.5 +35: the cleaner, easier fit

The FG Falcon on SW06 18x8.5 +35 is the conservative option. An 8.5-inch wheel at +35 sits further inboard than a 9.5-inch wheel at +22, so there is less chance of the tyre touching the guard. It suits owners who want a sharper look without changing much else about the car. SW06 comes in Gloss Black & Machine Lip, from $225 per wheel.

18x9.5 +22: the wider, flusher look

Three of our Ford builds run 18x9.5 +22. Compared with 18x8.5 +35, the outer lip sits roughly 25 mm further out, while the inner edge of the wheel stays in almost the same place. That is what gives the flush, filled-out look on the XR6 and XR6 Turbo. A wider, lower-offset setup like this may need guard work or a lowered ride height depending on the car, so ask us before ordering. For the maths behind that 25 mm figure, see our wheel offset guide.

Wheels in 18x9.5 +22 on 5x114.3:

  • SW12: cast 10-spoke. The Gloss White & Machine Lip finish that the FG XR6 runs comes in 18x9.5 +22. From $250 per wheel.
  • SW17: cast retro 5-spoke with a deep lip, Gloss Black & Machine Lip. This is what the XR6 Turbo and the NL Fairlane run. SW17 also comes in 18x10.5 +22 and as a staggered 9.5/10.5 set. From $275 per wheel.
  • SW10, SW14, SW15 and SW18 are also made in 18x9.5 +22 on 5x114.3. We have no Falcon builds on these yet, so the stud pattern matches but offset, brake clearance and guard clearance still need to be checked on your car.

Other 5x114.3 wheels that match the stud pattern

Most of our 18-inch range is available in 5x114.3, including SW01, SW03, SW04, SW05, SW19, SW20 and SW23 at offsets between +35 and +40. A matching stud pattern is only the first step: offset, brake caliper clearance and guard clearance must all be checked for your exact car before you buy. Browse the full alloy wheel collection, or message us with your model and we will tell you what we know.

Things to check before you order

  • Your current wheels and tyre placard. Note the size and offset of the wheels on the car now. Use the wheel offset calculator to compare them with the new wheel.
  • Ride height and guards. If the car is lowered or the guards have been rolled, a 9.5 +22 sits very differently than on a car at standard height.
  • Brakes. Upgraded or aftermarket brakes can change caliper clearance. Tell us what is on the car.
  • Hub-centric rings. SW passenger wheels have a 73.1 mm centre bore, so a hub-centric ring is recommended to centre the wheel on the Falcon hub. We sell alloy and plastic rings with a 73.1 mm outer diameter and a range of inner sizes, including 70.3 mm (plastic only) and 70.7 mm. If you are unsure which suits your car, choose the "Pick for me" option or message us.

Strength and compliance

All SW passenger wheels carry a load rating of 690 kg per wheel and are certified to JWL, VIA and AS1638. They come with free SpeedWorks centre caps and a 12-month warranty against defects in materials and finish. Wheels are priced per wheel and shipped in sets of four, with tracked and insured delivery Australia-wide, or pickup from Kingswood in Sydney's west by arrangement.

If you want something one-off for a Falcon or Fairlane, SpeedWorks Forged wheels are made to order from a single block of 6061-T6 aluminium, with a lead time of around 14 to 18 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

What stud pattern is the Ford Falcon FG?

The FG Falcon, including the XR6 and XR6 Turbo, uses 5x114.3. All four of our Falcon and Fairlane customer builds run 5x114.3 SpeedWorks wheels.

Will 18x9.5 +22 fit my FG XR6?

A customer's FG XR6 runs SW12 18x9.5 +22 and a customer's FG XR6 Turbo runs SW17 18x9.5 +22. How it sits on your car depends on ride height, tyre size and guard condition, and it may need guard work or a lowered ride height. Send us photos and details and we will advise.

What is the safest size for a standard-height Falcon?

Of the setups our customers run, 18x8.5 +35 is the more conservative, as seen on the FG Falcon running SW06. You still need to check offset, brakes and guards against your current wheels.

Do SpeedWorks wheels fit the NL Fairlane?

A customer's NL Fairlane runs SW17 18x9.5 +22 on 5x114.3. Other 5x114.3 SW wheels match the stud pattern, but offset, brake clearance and guards must be checked.

Do I need hub-centric rings on a Falcon?

They are recommended. SW wheels have a 73.1 mm bore, and a ring fills the gap to the hub so the wheel centres properly. Pick the "Pick for me" option or message us to confirm the inner size.
