The VA Subaru WRX and WRX STI use a 5x114.3 stud pattern, while the earlier non-STI Impreza WRX in GH hatch and GV sedan form uses 5x100. If you are not sure which one you have, count the studs on your current wheels or check your placard, or pick a dual-drilled 5x100 and 5x114.3 wheel. Our customers run 18x8 +35 to 18x9.5 +22 on these cars, with 18x8.5 around +30 to +38 the easy choice for a VA.
Why Subaru fitment is split between 5x100 and 5x114.3
For years the regular Impreza WRX used 5x100, and the STI moved to the larger 5x114.3 pattern to suit its bigger brakes and hubs. By the time the VA WRX arrived, both the WRX and the STI shared 5x114.3. That leaves a mixed picture for anyone buying wheels second hand or shopping for an older car, so always confirm your stud pattern before ordering.
The hub centre bore is 56.1 mm across these models. All SpeedWorks SW passenger wheels have a 73.1 mm centre bore, so a 73.1 to 56.1 hub-centric ring centres the wheel on the hub. We sell that size in both alloy hub-centric rings and plastic hub-centric rings.
Dual-drilled wheels: one set for either pattern
A dual-drilled wheel has two sets of stud holes, so the same wheel bolts onto a 5x100 or a 5x114.3 hub. It is handy if you own an older WRX and might move to an STI or VA later, or if you are buying a set for a car you have not confirmed yet. Current dual-drilled 5x100 and 5x114.3 options in the SpeedWorks range:
- SW01 18x8 +38 flow-formed, Bronze
- SW04 18x8 +38 cast, Bronze or Hyper Black, from $225 per wheel
- SW05 18x8.5 or 18x9.5 +35 cast, Hyper Black and Machine Lip, staggered available
- SW13 17x8.5 +30 cast deep-dish 5-spoke, Gloss Black and Machine Lip
- SW19 18x8.5 +38 flow-formed, Bronze
- SW20 18x8.75 +35 flow-formed, Hyper Black or Matte Black
SW02 also comes in a single-drilled 5x100 18x8 +35 for older WRX owners who only need 5x100.

Choosing a size for your WRX or STI
VA WRX and STI
For a clean daily setup, 18x8 to 18x8.5 with an offset in the +30 to +38 range is what our VA customers run: SW02 18x8 +35 (from $250 per wheel), SW12 18x8.5 +30 and SW16 18x8.5 +38. If you want a wider, more aggressive look, a customer's VA STI runs SW18 18x9.5 +22 in Bronze. Wider, lower-offset setups like that may need guard work or a lowered ride height depending on the car, so ask us before you order. Other 5x114.3 wheels in the range, such as SW10, SW14, SW15 and SW23, match the stud pattern too, but offset, brake clearance and guard clearance still need to be checked for your car.
GV and GH Impreza WRX and STI
On the earlier cars our customers have run SW04 18x8 +38 and SW05 18x9.5 +35, both dual-drilled, so the same wheel suits a 5x100 WRX or a 5x114.3 STI. The 18x9.5 +35 is a wide wheel with a moderate offset, which keeps the face closer to the factory position than a +22 would.
Use the offset calculator
Put your current wheel size and offset and the new one into our wheel offset calculator. It shows how far the face moves out and how much closer the inner edge gets to your strut and brakes, which is the quickest way to compare two options.

Frequently asked questions
What stud pattern is a Subaru WRX?
The VA WRX and WRX STI are 5x114.3. Earlier non-STI GH and GV Impreza WRX models are 5x100, while the STI of that era is 5x114.3. Check your current wheels or placard to be sure.
Will a dual-drilled wheel fit both my old WRX and a newer STI?
A 5x100 and 5x114.3 dual-drilled wheel bolts on to either hub. Offset, brake clearance and guard clearance still need to be checked on each car, and you will need hub-centric rings.
What hub-centric ring does a WRX need?
SpeedWorks SW wheels have a 73.1 mm bore and the WRX hub is 56.1 mm, so you need 73.1 to 56.1 rings, available in alloy and plastic.
Will 18x9.5 +22 fit a WRX?
A customer's VA STI runs SW18 18x9.5 +22. It is a wide, low-offset fitment that may need guard work or a lowered ride height depending on the car, so ask us first.
What is the safest size for a stock-height VA WRX?
Our VA customers most often run 18x8 +35 or 18x8.5 +30 to +38. Compare your current wheels in the offset calculator and message us if you want a second opinion.
