Drifting in Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory looks very different from the big states. Darwin has a busy club with its own stadium, Tasmania has occasional events, and Canberra has no drift venue, so most drivers make the trip to Sydney.
Where to drift
Hidden Valley Raceway
The Top End Drift Association (TEDA), a not-for-profit club, runs drifting in the Stadium area and on the circuit, with competition rounds through the year and learn-to-drift days for new drivers.
Symmons Plains Raceway
Where drifting happens in Tasmania. The Motor Sports Club of Tasmania runs driftkhana and come-and-try days, and interstate series have held rounds here. Regular open practice is less common than on the mainland, so follow the club for dates.
Canberra: drive to Sydney
There’s currently no ACT venue with a regular drift program. Most Canberra drifters head to the Australian Drift Club’s events at Sydney Motorsport Park and Sydney Dragway (see the NSW guide). One Raceway at Goulburn, about 90 km away, runs skid pan car-control sessions, though not drift days.

Getting on track
Depending on the event: a Motorsport Australia licence, an AASA licence or the club's own, and some also need club membership.
An approved helmet (AS1698 or better), long sleeves, long pants and closed shoes.
No leaks or loose items, a secured battery, and usually a fire extinguisher and marked tow points.
New to drifting? Start with a drift school, a skid pan session or a learn-to-drift day before an open practice day. Entry rules change, so always check the event page before you book.
