Western Australia has a well-organised drift scene: monthly drift nights at Wanneroo Raceway in Perth's north, and a purpose-built drift stadium at Collie that hosts the state championship.
Where to drift in Western Australia
Wanneroo Raceway
DriftWest, the drift arm of the WA Sporting Car Club, runs monthly drift nights and drift days on the infield and full circuit depending on your grading. Entry needs WASCC membership (your first event can be as a member of any Motorsport Australia affiliated club) and a Motorsport Australia speed licence.
Collie Motorplex
A purpose-built drift stadium, which D1WA calls WA's only dedicated drift track. D1WA is a volunteer not-for-profit club running around 15 events a year, including its Pro and Pro-Am State Drift Championship, with rounds at Collie, Wanneroo and the Perth Motorplex. Competition needs an AASA Club Race Licence.

Getting on track
Depending on the event: a Motorsport Australia licence, an AASA licence or the club's own, and some also need club membership.
An approved helmet (AS1698 or better), long sleeves, long pants and closed shoes.
No leaks or loose items, a secured battery, and usually a fire extinguisher and marked tow points.
New to drifting? Start with a drift school, a skid pan session or a learn-to-drift day before an open practice day. Entry rules change, so always check the event page before you book.
